over the last few weeks weve been writing a new track just because i guess, loving it at the moment. it reminds me of the begining you know the days when you where younger and all there was, is you and your best mates in a small room playing whatever came to you. no hold backs or hesitations because youre brothers. there isnt any judgment of what your writing if it does or doesnt fit.
carl brought this video to us yesterday, we all watched in amazement at how incredible and unique it is. its something original, inspirational & really makes us want to be more creative in what we do.
Feels like you’re miles from here,
in other towns with lesser names.
Where the unholy ghost doesn’t tell
Mary or William exactly what they want to hear.
You remember the house on Ridge Road
told you and the Devil to both just leave me alone.
If this is salvation, I can show you the trembling.
You’ll just have to trust me. I’m scared.
I am the patron saint of lost causes.
Aren’t we all to you just near lost causes?
Aren’t we all to you just lost
Tommy, you left behind
something that will mean everything right before you die.
What if you gained the whole world?
You’ve already lost four little souls from your life.
Widows and orphans aren’t hard to find.
They’re home missing daddy who’s saving the abandoned tonight.
Wish your drinking would hurry and kill you.
Sympathy’s better than having to tell you the truth.
That you are the patron saint of lost causes.
All you are to them is now a lost cause.
All you are to them is now, causes.
Billy, don’t you understand?
Timothy stood as long as he could and now
you made his faith disappear.
More like a magician and less like a man of the cloth.
We’re not questioning God.
Just those he chose to carry on His cross.
We’re no better, you’ll see.
Just all of us, the lost causes.
Aren’t we all to you just lost causes?
Are we all to you lost?
Lost causes
So all we are to you,
Is all we are, is all we are
All we are is all we are
Patron Saint, are we all lost like you?
Patron Saint, are we all lost like you?
Patron Saint, are we all lost like you?
Patron Saint, are we all lost like you?
Patron Saint, are we all lost like you? (Lost causes, all we are is all we are)
Patron Saint, are we all lost like you? (To you, lost…)
Patron Saint, are we all lost like you?
Patron Saint, are we all lost like you?
Patron Saint, are we all lost like you?
Take what you will, what you will
And leave. Could you kill, could you kill me
If the world was on fire
and nothing was left but hope or desire
And take all that I could bring forth, is this hell
Or am I on the floor over-desperate?
Hold hands streaming of blood again?
And then take full weight of me
Guard my dreams, figure this out,
It’s me on my own. Helpless, hurting, hell
Will you stay strong as you promised?
Cause I’m stranded and bare.
Meanness is washed up in all that I am
is God. Take this and all,
Then grace takes me to a place
Of the father you never had
Ripping and breaking and tearing apart
This is not heaven
This is my hell.

“If you’re listening to this, you’re alive. Stay that way.”
Last weekend I had the honour of volunteering at the To Write Love On Her Arms tent at Parachute festival.
I went to New Zealand because I believe in the power of conversation and the power that comes in the words “You Are Not Alone”.
One evening I met a young girl, for the sake of the story we’ll call her Sarah. Sarah approached the stand and explained that her friend had told her that she had to come see us and find out what we were about. I briefly told Sarah about TWLOHA and invited her to read the story of Renee Yohe. As Sarah began reading the story I could see tears welling up in her eyes, half way through she insisted that she had to leave and would finish the story another time.
I asked Sarah to stay, and explained that it’s okay for her to be broken and that she doesn’t have to hide it, I encouraged her to read on and see the hope that Renee found in a friend who was willing to take the time to help her find healing.
I explained that no matter what Sarah had been through, that she had no reason to be ashamed, that she didn’t struggle alone.
At the end of our conversation I gave Sarah one of our T-shirts and explained that this shirt was a reminder for her that when life is at it’s darkest, that at the very least, we believe that there is hope for her. I say all of this not to boast at all, but to say that I saw in Sarah’s eyes a glimpse of hope, hope that she found in one honest conversation.
Here is my letter to Sarah and all people alike.
“You are not alone. We all feel pain. That doesn’t make your pain any better or worse, but it does mean that you don’t have to face it alone. Sometimes it’s scary to speak out, but I promise you healing follows shortly after.. No matter what has happened, there is hope ahead. Don’t let go of the dream.
I still see the stars in your eyes.”
News: A Hopeful Christmas
Dear Friend,
The season is upon us once again and we at Hopeful Productions would like to invite you to attend the third annual Hopeful Christmas party to be held at YMCA HQ Leederville on Saturday December 3rd.
We are pleased to announce that AMANDA MERDZAN, ALEX & ROSS CONRADIE, VON HEART & KALLAN PHILLIPS + more tba will be performing throughout the night to bring you both good tidings and joy.
As we all know, Christmas is a time to be filled with hope and to show love. We would like to invite you to purchase a childrens book or toy to bring along to donate towards The Smith Family Christmas appeal. All donations will be given to financially disadvantaged families throughout Australia to bring some hope to their Christmas morning.
So there it is! Don your Santa hearts, escape the Christmas sales, avoid yet another re-run of Tim Allen’s ‘Santa Clause’ and help us bring some joy to children across the country.
Love, The Hopeful Team.

Yesterday we organized a surprise garden show at Central Park Perth with Death and a Cure, Von Hart and an all-you-can-eat free sausage sizzle!
It really showed what community can be. There were no barriers between youth and senior adults, between the homeless and the businessmen, between cultures, religion or political views - it was just free food and entertainment from local musicians.
Music and food seem to have that power to bring people together on a common need and a common interest.
I was so impressed at how well the community responded with many people trying to give us money and sharing what this gesture meant to them and most of all I was so impressed with our friends willingness to help out.
Community doesn’t happen unless people have genuine love for their peers, and I saw that yesterday.
I don’t want to over analysis the day, it was what it was.
If you weren’t able to get down, there are a bunch of photos on Facebook and Michelles Portfolio. I will chuck some up on here soon :)

wake up now: live to write love please write love on your arms on your hearts in your words and your actions in your life write love
Love. We are all born with a great desire to love and a great desire to receive it. It is there as we live our lives with our families. As we live our lives among friends and strangers. And we look into comfortable situations and the things we already know to get it. And we focus too much on receiving love instead of our ability to give it.
We cannot wait any longer. This world needs people who have come alive. This world needs people who love, this world needs people who are hungry to pour out. Every day, this world needs people. The world is broken and we are all broken with it. Maybe we need to remember what we’re here for. We are here for our brothers and sisters. And if we forget that… if we forget that then maybe sometimes I think that we have forgotten our purpose. This world is in need of so much love. This world is in need. This world needs so much and we have the tools to offer it.
We train ourselves to look past the needs of others, and we only think about ourselves. Consumed with our own lives, going through the same routines. Sometimes we forget about the stranger. About the person next to us on the bus, the person sitting across us in class, the person we work with. About the stranger sitting on the road. We forget about these people. We forget that they matter, like we matter. They matter just as much.
We exist for the world around us. We exist to love. We exist to live a life of adventure of risk of stepping out every single day to meet the need of a stranger. We exist not to be comfortable, but to throw ourselves in uncomfortable situations where His strength and His love can be revealed. This is our moment, where heaven and our hearts collide. This is our moment to step out to pour out to believe that we can make a difference. The message is simple- love.
These three things remain… faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of this is love.
